RRCU
RRCU is a network of public health and clinician researchers committed to advancing global knowledge about Rheumatic Heart Disease through projects based in or informed by Uganda.
RRCU is based at the Uganda Heart Institute in Kampala, Uganda, and includes collaborators from around the world.

Our Mission
The mission of the RRCU is to reduce the local and global burden of RHD through innovative, patient- and community-centered research. We are committed to improving RHD prevention, treatment, and advocacy by collaborating with experts across disciplines and translating evidence-based findings into sustainable solutions that prioritize the health and well-being of patients, families, and communities affected by RHD.

RRCU strives to be a transformative force in the global reduction of RHD. By establishing powerful international partnerships, empowering local communities, and pioneering groundbreaking research, we are committed to advancing innovative, scalable solutions to eliminate RHD and improve cardiovascular health on a global scale.

Guiding Principles
An Interdisciplinary Approach
RRCU affects change through its global network of healthcare providers, researchers, social scientists, policymakers, and people living with RHD utilizing a broad-based research infrastructure spanning community health to tertiary care.
Community and Patient-Informed Research
RRCU partners with those living with RHD and community members to engage in research and training that is rooted in and benefits communities and patients living with RHD.
Investing in the Future
RRCU is investing in the future by mentoring emerging talent and creating inclusive opportunities that foster growth, resilience, and innovation—ensuring the next generation is equipped to lead and advance our mission of reducing the burden of RHD locally and globally.
